  • What is Consandtrate made of and what is it used for?
Consandtrate - Intelligent Bond is a polymerized concrete material designed to mix with dry sand to make polymeric sand for jointing pavers. Our Intelligent Bond technology creates a high performance jointing compound that is strong and flexible. When mixed with aggregate and then exposed to water, Consandtrate cures to form a hardened infill for jointing concrete and natural stones. It is the only product on the market that allows anyone to make their own polymeric sand for paver joints.
  • What kind of aggregate do I use to mix with Consandtrate?
To make polymeric sand with Consandtrate, you will need to mix it with an appropriate filler material, like dry masonry sand or blended stone dust.
  • What is the ratio of Consandtrate to sand? Can it be altered?
A standard ratio of 1 part Consandtrate to 10 parts dry sand yields a high performance polymeric sand ideal for jointing pavers and natural stone. Projects with low risk to stressors can use a standard ratio to maximize yield and coverage. When high intensity stressors like shifting are anticipated, the ratio can be adjusted up to 1 part Consandtrate to 5 parts dry sand to maximize the strength and durability of the polymeric sand.
  • How much polymeric sand does 10 LB of Consandtrate make?
10 LBs of Consandtrate will yield 100 LBs polymeric sand when using a ratio of 1 part Consandtrate to 10 parts dry sand.
  • How do I mix Consandtrate?
*Always wear a dust mask, gloves, and safety goggles when handling* When mixing Consandtrate with aggregate the goal is uniform consistency throughout. Whether you hand mix in a plastic tub, wheelbarrow, or cement mixer, the technique is to mix it thoroughly. You can use a shovel, spade tool, or a hoe to pull and mix Consandtrate with the aggregate. Continue mixing by alternating directions. Pour the blend out in another container and pour it back in the original to ensure there is proper rotation. Alternate between both steps until the Consandtrate is blended cohesively throughout the entire mix.
  • Do I need to seal the paver joints?
Sealing paver joints will add permability to your joints and make them more resistant to weather and stains.
  • How long will my polymeric sand last once installed?
Polymeric sand made with Consandtrate lasts between 10-15 years when installed and maintained properly. After installation it is best to finish your project with a sealant to maximize the life expectancy of your project. Sealant should be reapplied as instructed by the products manufacturer.
